Description
Built from shagreen leather and paper, this Tan Book Set carries the fine pebbled texture the material is known for across twelve volumes in a warm brown, Tawny Brown. Traditional in feeling and graphic up close, the books read as objects first, giving a shelf weight and pattern without adding color noise to the room. The spines stay plain, with no titling to read.
Each volume measures roughly 7 to 10 inches wide, 1 inch deep and 5 to 7 inches high, with sizes varying across the set of 12. That range is the point: stack the larger ones flat under a lamp or an object, then stand the shorter ones upright between bookends where the spines can be read as a run of texture.
Shagreen belongs to the Art Deco vocabulary, which makes these an easy bridge between a traditional library and a more transitional living room. Distribute the twelve across a bookcase, a coffee table and a console rather than clustering them, and the brown reads as a repeating thread through the whole scheme. Beside brass, mirrored glass and dark timber the tan warms the whole shelf.
