Description
This Walnut Secretary Cabinet with Oyster Veneer and Barley Twist Legs draws from the William and Mary tradition - late 17th century English court furniture at its most theatrical, and still one of the strongest looks in a traditional room.
The panelled doors in oyster-cut walnut veneer, where cross-sections of smaller branches are laid in a radiating mosaic pattern. Open them and the interior does the real talking: a mirror-backed alcove with églomisé reverse-painted glass, surrounded by pigeonholes, small drawers, and shelves. The exterior carries its own row of small drawers, all veneered to match. Below, the open base runs on six barley twist legs tied by serpentine stretchers and finished on bun feet.
It works as a writing station, a display cabinet, or both — ideal in a study, library, or formal living room. Pair it with a leather wing chair or a tall case clock and the room starts to feel like it was put together over decades, not an afternoon.
The EGA Standard
Every piece in our collection is chosen with intention. Not by algorithm, not by volume, not by what's trending this season.
We look for furniture built to outlast the room it lives in. Pieces with real joinery, genuine materials, and the kind of construction that holds up decades from now. If it doesn't meet that bar, it doesn't make the collection.
When you buy from EGA Home, you're working with people who know this catalog personally. The lead times, the finishes, the details worth asking about. Our team is here before, during, and after your purchase.
That's the standard we hold ourselves to. We think you'll feel it.
