Faux bamboo turnings run up every leg and stretcher of this Chinese Chippendale counter stool, ringed and noded the way the style's makers imitated real cane in carved wood. Here the wood is ash under a whitewashed vintage oak finish, so the pattern reads soft and sun-bleached rather than glossy.

The back rises to 41 inches with an open fretwork frame; the upholstered linen seat sits at 26 inches, standard counter height. The footprint stays trim at 17 by 21 inches, which lets three or four line up along an island without crowding the walkway.
